The Pressure of Parenting

    Being a mom is a job never done! It's a joy, it's pain, it's responsibility, accountability, sacrificial, tough, and rewarding. There's an unmeasurable amount of stress and pressure on modern day mothers. There's this unrealistic belief that you can be dedicated to your spouse, career, children, and your own self interest. I'm not saying you can't do all these things, but I am saying all these things are not done with the same care that you may wish. Something has to take a backseat to something else and get less of you. We're only humans and it's not possible for us to pay everything attention at one time effectively. This is a reality some many people don't like to face. We keep seeing it pushed on tv, the mom of 3 that got her graduate degree, she's married, she has time for her girlfriends, she's super fit, etc. I haven't seen this in real life yet. I've seen women upset over gaining weight during a pregnancy, determined to work passed 40 weeks of pregnancy because they don't want to be called weak and they can handle it, rush back to work during maternity leave due to finances, fear of job loss, fear of being left behind by peers, criticized by relatives on how they're raising their kids, etc. It's tough to for women to meet all these demands and still feel like our best version of ourselves. But it's okay to slow down. It's okay to scale back and not micro manage everything. It's okay to lose the weight gradually. It's okay to grab fast food sometime because it's gotten late and dinner won't be done in time. It's okay to move up in your career at your own pace. As long as we put unrealistic expectations on ourselves, we'll keep being disappointed. If you give your best at being a mom, you won't ultimately fail. Don't cave into society expectations of women, just do what you can while you can. It's hard not to strive for perfection, when we as mothers like to try to give our child the absolute best that we can. We can't get so caught up in the world around us that we forget a child's greatest need is LOVE!

 With schools back in, a lot of parents have been buying supplies and clothes to prepare for the upcoming school year.
