Stay At Home Moms

So many mothers are doing wonderous things in the work world. Women are breaking through barriers and in top positions in many occupations. Being at home with children are becoming stories of the past for many. It reeks of boredom and domestication in the minds of some. For me, it's the epitome of a selfless sacrifice. When a mother comes out of work to care for her kids it's a huge life decision. It's a responsibility that's unyielding. In some cases it's necessary due to the outrageous increasing  cost of childcare. There's a million opinions on this and many mothers can feel discouraged while others thrive by tending to household duties. I have personally been on both sides of this for awhile. I've had times where I stay at home with my children and other times I'm back in school or the workforce. Really, it depends on what works best for my family at the time or what I'm working towards for that moment. Honestly, that's all anyone can do when it comes to child rearing, doing what fits your family. Here's a little information I found online about some of the benefits, cons, and myths on this subject:

MYTHS:

* Moms that stay at home are LAZY!

* Moms that stay at home don't contribute anything.

* Moms that stay at home are undereducated.

CONS:

*  You can feel a little socially isolated outside your home if you don't balance your social life.

* You may have to  pause or switch around your personal career plans.

*Change of income from leaving your occupation.

PROS:

* Children have proved to accelerate academically and be ahead.

*You can save money on childcare expenses.

* You are able to watch your kids flourish right before your eyes and not fear you're missing out on anything.

I didn't want the list to be too long and drag because it's repetitive knowledge. I do want women to know being mothers is a huge blessing if that's what you're interested in. It doesn't have to be a dreary picture that zaps life out of you if you don't choose to make it that. Just be honest with yourself about who you are and what you want out of life and you'll be fine. It sometimes seems like raising children is becoming demonized in our society, but there is a great joy in seeing your family line grow and being a supportive loving mother.

Until Next Time,
