Lack of Options

It’s not new information that there’s little animation and representation of minorities in the mainstream media. Upon having children, it’s became extremely obvious just how little representation that is. My daughter, like most children have taken an extra liking to YouTube channels dedicated to toys. She also enjoys Barbie specials and YouTube stars like Ryan. However, when it comes to finding diverse things for her to watch, I’m left with little options. I’ve went back and found shows I grew up on because there’s not many shows with young black children, and the ones that are out sometimes seem to be filled with stereotypical propaganda. Some old shows she’s into are That’s so Raven, Sister Sister, Proud Family, Keenan and Kel. Even though these shows are nostalgic and fun for us to watch together, I wish she had shows to watch from her time. I know there’s Raven’s Home, Young Dylan, and even That Girl Lay Lay, but these are still limited. Maybe one day there will be more show options for black children to tune into, but that would only be a reality with more black writers being apart of Hollywood and more black actors being casted, not a few people with Eurocentric features cast as black actors (but that’s a blogpost for another day). Do you think future tv shows will diversify or remain stagnant?

Back 2 School Expenses You Didn’t Think About

 With schools back in, a lot of parents have been buying supplies and clothes to prepare for the upcoming school year. However, pencils and glue sticks may not be as expensive as you think compared to these items. Here’s a list of school expenses that it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared for: 1.) I've been contemplating on my mental state of mind and the impact others can have on me. As an HSP (highly sensitive person) I tend to soak up so many emotions. This has led me to actively seek out more info on energy absorption. This is a belief that people are able to give off good and bad energy. Depending on their energy, it can have a good impact or negative impact on you. If someone has a bad aura it's destined to ward off on others. Not only that, but a person with a bad aura is destined to cause bad things to happen. Consider people like this "agents of chaos." They disrupt situations and are problematic. They have bad attitudes and personalities. A lot of them also feel empowered when they can bring others down. It's important to be cautious about the company you keep around you.
