Marijuana, It's Just Recreational, Right?

Happy July Everyone! The summer is flying by and it'll be fall before we know it! I've been seeing all this outrage online about the Olympics and their marijuana guidelines. So many people are upset because marijuana is legal in some places and they don't understand the ban. I'm bringing this up because over the years marijuana legalization is  a hot topic that gets people really going.  It seems like marijuana is an easy drug to overlook, and praised for it's recreational usage. However, I want to discuss some of it's other properties because I feel like some people are misinformed. I've heard people deny it's bad for your health and mothers deny it can contribute harm to their unborn infants. No, this isn't a post about why marijuana should or should not be legal. It's just a post with the less popular information that some people ignore or don't know about.
  • Marijuana is one of the most ADDICTIVE substances. (Tobacco and Alcohol are the other two)
  • Vaping is causing an increase in Marijuana usage.
  • THC is much more potent (stronger) when it's digested.
  • The higher THC levels can cause physical and cognitive (issues with your thinking) problems.
  • Lung issues from long term use (similar to tobacco usage)
  • Increased heart rate. (Can contribute to heart attacks and strokes)
  • Attention and memory issues can be an issue for unborn babies that are exposed to THC.
  • Pregnant moms are at risk for anemia when they use Marijuana.
  • At risk for Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome, an issue that causes vomiting, dehydration issues, and makes you nauseous often.
  • The smoke has many carcinogens (can contribute to increase risk of cancer)
I didn't want this post to be too long, but I want everyone to consider the health risks involved with using any substance. Despite Marijuana being legal in some places, a lot of jobs still drug test and expect sober applicants. A lot of laws are also still in effect. Just make sure you always are aware of risks and benefits when taking anything.

Until Next Time,
